I use my stabilizer mostly handheld so the wight is a big factor. Even with no camera on it it is almost twice the weight of the Movi. One of the biggest issues I had with the Ronin was just the weight of it. After using both the Movi Pro was the obvious choice. Then when I looked into a new stabilizer I was between the Ronin 2 and the Movi Pro. I was a DJI guy with the ronin-m and the original ronin. And when I get home my back still has enough strength to pick up my daughter.Įverything you want in a gimbal, and worth the price in my opinion. It's been tricky to balance the Ursa Mini Pro but once it's locked in the Movi Pro handles it wonderfully, and the resulting footage is indeed majestic. I'm using the Anton Bauer 9" P-tap cable which is a perfect fit for the UMP, and the Wooden Camera coiled 20" - 36" BNC cable in the picture I've got a different SDI cable that didn't work so well because it didn't flex and didn't have right-angle ends. I really like that spot for a monitor mount but I'm thinking that I'm going to have to buy a different 30mm mount to put the monitor on somewhere else on the ring. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as to why they didn't do that-they're much smarter than I am and have spent way more time thinking about this thing!īut also, the monitor mount that's built into the handle is thoughtful, but it doesn't seem to be designed to hold the weight of my SmallHD 702 bright monitor (which is fantastic).after a few uses the screws started to come loose which makes the monitor bobble while I'm using it. That's the only part of it that it's slick and easy. For one, I'm not sure why they couldn't have come up with a quick-release solution instead of having to screw in 4 tiny screws, and then unscrew them and take the handle off when you want to put the Movi back in the case. The only thing I've had an issue with is the top handle. But mostly it's great for preserving energy. And you can set it on desks or other flat surfaces to get low-angle tripod-ish shots. And it's so very nice to be able to set it down at the end of a shot instead of having to walk back to where the stand is located. The ring is great, makes it so easy to control and maneuver the gimbal. And that's nice because it preserves my v-mount batteries for handheld/tripod use. Using the Movi that way I can shoot 2 or 3 hours before the batteries run out, and that's if I'm pausing the motors in-between shots and being mindful of how long I'm leaving the camera on when I'm not using it. I power the Ursa Mini Pro off the p-tap outlet in the carriage, which is wonderful. New batteries are a massive improvement over the original Movi batteries. And part of that is being able to set it down-but a huge part of it is that it's just so much lighter.įor my uses I haven't made any tweaks.the way they had Majestic Mode set up out of the box has been great for how I use it. Same camera, same monitor, much lighter gimbal.

I borrowed a DJI Ronin and put my Ursa Mini Pro on it (external buttons help a ton as a gimbal camera btw), and after using it for about an hour my back was absolutely killing me, and I was literally sore for several days.įlash forward to finally purchasing the Movi Pro-I used it three days in a row shooting for about six hours each day, and my back was fine.

I used the M5 for a while when I was shooting with a DSLR and sold it when I upgraded to the Ursa Mini. When connected to the MIMIC, the Bush Pilot can actuate focus, zoom, or iris, depending on how you have it set up. Additional control can be achieved with the included Bush Pilot Auxiliary Control Knob. The MIMIC has Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz radios built-in for device and accessory communication. Since the design also goes above and below the stabilizer itself, high and low shots are easily accomplished with minimal stretching on the part of the camera operator.įor dual-operator configurations, the MIMIC syncs with the MōVI Pro, allowing one operator to control the camera movements while a second operator moves the camera rig. With the included batteries, the camera and essential accessories can be powered without adding any bulk to the MōVI Pro.īy offering a unified design, the MōVI Ring Pro lets the camera operator grip the attached MōVI Pro from nearly any angle. The MōVI Pro motorized gimbal stabilizer steadies cameras weighing up to 15 pounds, rendering it compatible with mirrorless cameras all the way up to smaller cinema cameras. Consisting of the MōVI Pro motorized gimbal stabilizer, MōVI Ring Pro handle, and the MIMIC controller, this kit can perform in either single or dual-operator configurations.
